Fariha and Saadman had always heard of each other—they were in the same year of school, both Bangladeshi, both from the Dallas metroplex—but they never really connected until they both enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin. As UT’s motto famously says, “What starts here changes the world.”
On the first day of their very first class as freshmen (Introduction to Microeconomics with the legendary Professor Hamermesh), Fariha spotted a familiar face in the crowd of 300+ students and chose a seat next to Saadman. Another student took the seat beside them—someone who’s now part of their wedding party (hello, Mustafa!). The trio bonded over long study sessions and endless laughs that semester. Though Fariha and Saadman drifted apart afterward, they always shared friendly hellos around campus, caught up on life and memes whenever their paths crossed, and eventually graduated in May 2016 to follow their own journeys.
Most people would assume their story ended there. However, in late 2019, Fariha moved back to Austin, and Saadman reached out to reconnect. They immediately fell into an easy rhythm—rediscovering shared interests in food, music, travel, memes, culture, and perspectives on life. And now, in April 2025, they finally get to do what they’ve always wanted: spend the rest of their lives together—and they can’t wait to share this new chapter with you!
